Arduino Shields

Arduino.org Shields

Arduino.org Shields are boards that can be plugged on top of the Arduino PCB, extending its capabilities. The different shields follow the same philosophy as the original toolkit. These Arduino.org Shields are easy to mount and cheap to produce. Learn more about the associated Arduino Ethernet Development Tools.

Arduino.org Ethernet Shields

Arduino.org Ethernet Shields connect your Arduino to the internet in mere minutes. Just plug this module onto your Arduino board, connect it to your network with an RJ45 cable (not included) and follow a few simple instructions to start controlling your world through the Internet. Arduino.org Ethernet Shields allow an Arduino board to connect to the internet. These shields are based on the Wiznet W5500 ethernet chip, which provides a network (IP) stack capable of both TCP and UDP. These shields support up to four simultaneous socket connections. Use the Ethernet library to write sketches that connect to the Internet using the shield. The ethernet shields connect to an Arduino.org board using long wire-wrap headers that extend through the shield. This keeps the pin layout intact and allows another shield to be stacked on top.

Arduino.org A000079 Motor Shield

Arduino.org A000079 Motor Shield is based on the L298, which is a dual full-bridge driver designed to drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, DC, and stepping motors. This shield lets you drive two DC motors with your Arduino board, controlling the speed and direction of each one independently. You can also measure the current absorption of each motor, among other features. The shield is TinkerKit compatible, which means you can quickly create projects by plugging TinkerKit modules to the board. This shield has two separate channels, called A and B, that each use 4 of the Arduino pins to choose the rotation direction, vary the speed, fast brake, or sense the current that is flowing through the motor. In total, there are 8 pins in use on this shield. You can use each channel separately to drive two DC motors or combine them to drive one bipolar stepper motor.
