Mix-and-Match with the Maxim MAX11300 20-Port Mixed-Signal I/O Available from Mouser
February 24, 2015 - Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking the MAX11300 20-Port Mixed-Signal I/O from Maxim Integrated. Unlike traditional multichannel data converters, the MAX11300 uses Maxim's mixed-signal PIXI™ technology, allowing developers to easily configure up to 20 mixed-signal ports on a single chip. Each of the 20 I/O ports on the MAX11300 is capable of becoming an ADC, DAC, or general-purpose I/O (GPIO), providing extreme design flexibility for a variety of applications.
The Maxim MAX11300 20-Port Mixed-Signal I/O, available from Mouser Electronics, allows developers to mix-and-match twenty 12-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), twenty 12‑bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and twenty high voltage digital I/O pins in any pin order. This makes the MAX11300 one of the industry's first configurable 20-channel, -10V to +10V high-voltage mixed-signal data converters. The device is configured by an SPI and I2C compatible interface and is managed by a programmable digital core. Adjacent pairs of ports can be configured as a logic-level translator for open-drain devices or for use as an analog switch. Each port is completely configurable with four selectable voltage ranges between ‑10V to +10V, providing bipolar signals that aid designers in reducing board space and cost.
This multipurpose, highly configurable solution offers extreme design flexibility, providing developers with design options that shorten development time and decrease Bill‑of‑Material (BOM) cost. Even though the MAX11300 targets complex mixed-signal applications requiring 12-bits of accuracy, these devices can be used in a variety of designs that require a mixture of analog and digital functions. Target applications for the MAX11300 include RF base stations, controls for optical components, industrial control and automation, power-supply monitoring and system supervision and control.
Maxim Integrated also offers free configuration software that enables drag‑and‑drop setup of all twenty ports on the MAX11300. Files can be exported for coding and easily reconfigured as requirements change using an easy-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI).
The MAX11300 is available in a 40-pin, 6mm x 6mm TQFN package, and is specified over the -40°C to +105°C temperature range.
